Happy New Year...

I have a feeling 2013 is going to be a very powerful year...I love this photograph. It was taken years ago up at Max Patch, NC.  What an amazing place.

Alliance, n.: In international politics, the union of two thieves who have their hands so deeply inserted into each others' pockets that they cannot separately plunder a third.
Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914)

Beautiful... Thanks Trish and Alex.  Here's to 2013....I love you.

The Day After.

The Day After Christmas. It has been stormy here on Coastal Carolina.  Warm. 70 degrees today.  Lightening and thunder last night was thrilling to wake to at 3 a.m.. I suppose I wanted to produce a flower/garden mosaic.  They always brighten a day. I have been also producing a 50 mosaic plate collection for a loyal customer.  What an odd year, 2012.  I worry about selling art next year.  Waiting to hear the Fiscal resolution.  Perhaps I should go overseas and live an exotic artist bohemian existence.  I found a building that would make an awesome art gallery.  It sits abandoned but no sign.  I need to do some investigating.

The Guardians of The Giving Tree by Victor Nunnally

"The Guardians of The Giving Tree" 80" x 48" Stained Glass Mosaic by Victor Nunnally

Green Man Mosaics created this piece a year ago for a home in Fayetteville, NC.  My camera was dying so the images came out a little unfocused.  I need to catch up with April and John and asked them if I can come over and shoot some new images of this 24 sqft Catherdral Ceiling Window.  I was reading that the giving trees of myrrh and frankincense are coming under threat from the agriculture movements in Ethiopia and Somalia.  Two of the holy oils face extinction.  Not good.  Research the medicinal properties of both gum resins.  Very Fascinating.

Holy Trinity by Victor Nunnally

The Holy Trinity is a requested piece.  I was asked to create a descending white dove with out stretched wings under a full moon along with a mirror Episcopalian cross bordered in red.  A representation of The Holy Trinity.  A Garden of Gardenia with agates, angels, representation of family such as a green eye and the number 21.  I placed 21 gold gems throughout the garden and over to the right you will find a green eye.

A challenging piece for sure. It has a potency. Thank you Martha.  It looks perfect where we hung it.  I look forward to creating it's companion for your front door.

I found inspiration from Gian Lorenzo Bernini - Dove of the Holy Spirit (ca. 1660, stained glass, Throne of St. Peter, St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican)

New Hanover Arboretum, Wilmington NC

Green Man Mosaics went on display at The New Hanover Arboretum October 6th and 7th, 2012 for their annual Autumn art show featuring 80 artist.

38 x 26" stained glass mosaic by Victor Nunnally
I was driving the other night and saw the moon, in a rich yellow hue with a star to it's northwest.  I had no intention with "Autumn Night".  I thought a star next to the moon would be beautiful...I glimpsed as I was driving and thinking how odd that was.  I have learned Jupiter is the Star Imposter.

The New Hanover Arboretum was a delight, an ethereal and enchanted facility with no pretense.  The art that was on display was fabulous.  It was a perfect setting for Green Man Mosaics.   Thank you to all the wonderful people who put the show together

The Storm

I was delivering "The Storm"  to my sister's store in Fayetteville. As I was driving I came across this orchard of trees and knew that a photo op was in order.

I am very pleased with the outcome of this oil painting.  This is the third in a series called The Wild Flowers. An evolution of a design and color.  48" x 32" Oil; Through a Prairie By Victor Nunnally 2012

As I was leaving I saw this sinister face staring at me from this tree stump.  Hmm.

Wiseman, Love and Dragons by Victor Nunnally

Wiseman

Wisemen #2  30" x 19"

Wiseman #2

Wisemen #2  30" x 20"

Love 12" diameter

Dragonfly Plate Series 8" x 5" 1 of 3

There have been several productions in the last two weeks.  I wanted to create another Wisemen window after the popularity of the last one.  When my brother in law, Alex was in Israel a few months ago I asked him if he would pick some rocks from the ground and bring them to me.  I have placed three of the rocks in this piece.  The bottom is lined with flower jade stones.  The star is a crystal that catches the penetrating sunlight with vigor.  I created a more diverse sky than the last one which was a more deep blue.  Also, in the sky are 12 blue gems signifying the disciples or the constellations.  I am very happy with the outcome.  The camels and wisemen are shaped with small cuts of black glass.  The Rose plate was a requested piece.  I sent a photo to the customer per request but never got feedback so I am not sure if he liked it...but I was am happy with my first attempt of a rose.  I wish I had a deeper red for the center.  The Dragonfly plates are always popular and come out with much movement and color.  Two more projects need to get done by Saturday; An 18"  Peacock table and and 18" sea turtle table, another first for me.  I used to swim over green backs and hawksbill turtles in the Virgin Islands and see them resting during night snorkels.  Such graceful creatures.  I am keeping my fingers crossed on recent applications for huge art commissions in San Francisco.  I want to do a large scale wall for the public.  Imagine how awesome a 15 foot stained glass mural would be lit up at an airport or public transport.  Perseverance and strife have been key virtues in my artistic endeavors.  The last five years have been filled with many challenges.

The Nest and Cards

39" x 19" Stained Glass Mosaic "At The Casino" 2012-commission.  "Jim, it's one of my favorites."

39" x 24" Stained Glass Mosaic Window "The Nest" 2012-sold.  Thank you Terry and John.  I hope it brings much joy to your world.

Cowboy Jim keeps me producing his Wild West windows.  " At The Casino" is one of my favorite pieces I have created for him.  One day, I will have to invest in producing a more detailed face card.

"The Nest" was a vision I had for a floral scene, a very popular series of mosaics paying tribute  the flower garden. I call it The Nest because within  this world of colorful  movement lies a nest of eggs, not glass, but a metal pendant.  Perhaps the nest of a hummingbird.

Atlanta from The Marriott Marquis.

My sister and I went to Atlanta Mart to check out merchandise.  3 huge buildings filled with wholesalers.  I came upon one spot that is going to spice up my art.  It was great seeing a dear friend, Monica.  Once upon a time on a Caribbean island Monica and I used to do a water routine called butt bumping, consisting of flipping over each other underwater leading to a bumping of our butts.  We would crack up out in  the crystal blue waters trying to come up with new routines.  We considered turning it into an Olympic Sport.  How I miss those frolicking days of Maho Bay on St John, US Virgin Islands.  I miss so many people that came through the eco resort.  It has one more year left on it's lease then who knows what will become of the exquisite landscape surrounded by a National Park.  The Trust for Public Lands was attempting to make the purchase.  I spent 20 years of my life going back and forth so it is quite sorrowful if this simple tree house community disappears.
